How much will it cost me to receive messages?

Nada. Niente. Rien. Nothing. It is FREE. We will never charge you for receiving messages.

If you are travelling abroad make sure you check with your network provider the costs of receiving messages whilst you are abroad.

How much will it cost me to send messages?

We will never charge you for distributing messages to the members of your club!

Depending on your network you may not be charged for sending messages to our inbound number, we will never charge you for this. Please note, this is a UK only service and this information is correct for use within the UK.

Will you SPAM me?

No, this is illegal. If you think you are being spammed, then please contact us on confidential@firetext.co.uk

Will you sell my mobile phone number, and all my personal details?

No, this is not only short sighted but also bad business practice (in our opinion)

Is my mobile number safe?

Yes, whilst you may sign up to a club your full mobile number is kept secure and is not made available to anyone else in the club without your express permission.

How is the service supported?

This service is supported through tagged sponsorship. When a message is sent for distribution, we attach a sponsorship message and then distribute to the relevant recipients. The sponsor covers the cost of distribution, and keeps the service free.

How many messages can my club send?

Your club can receive a massive 1000 messages per month. For example, if your club has 25 members, you an send 40 messages! support@firetext.co.uk.

How many subscribers can my club have?

Due to popular demand, this has now been set to 100 members. If you would like this to be increased get in contact with us on support@firetext.co.uk

Can I set up sub-lists within my club?

Yes, yes you can. On the club details page choose 'Add A Team'. You can have up to 5 teams in your club at any one time. Great for a Committee, Instructors or even the weekend dive trip to Weymouth.

What if the details I give are false?

We reserve the right to run checks on the clubs that set up and members that use our services. If we find that clubs/members have provided false and misleading information then we reserve the right to discontinue their use of our services.

What if I want to sponsor some SMS using your service?

If you want to sponsor some SMS then get in contact with us on adfab@firetext.co.uk to see if it is appropriate for our members.

How to...Create a club

Creating a club is easy using FireText, this can only be done through this website and you must also have an online account to do this. If you have yet to sign up for an online account please refer to the 'How to.Create an account' section of the FAQs.

To create a club select the 'create a club' link on the control panel on the left hand side of the screen. Firstly you must specify the type of club you are creating and then input some additional information. Finally, you must choose your club's keyword, which will be used when distributing SMS and subscribing members.

How to...Invite members to join your club

As an administrator of a club you have the ability to invite new members. You can do this by selecting 'invite members' under the 'club members' page, accessible via the club homepage. You can either upload a list of numbers, or manually input mobile numbers. Please note that inviting members does not mean that they will automatically start receiving club messages - their mobile number still requires verification.

How to...Nominate Senders

As an administrator of a club you have the ability to specify who can send messages to the club either from their mobile phone or through the website. This can be done on the 'club members' page. By selecting on or off, you can adjust the sender privileges of each member.

How to...Nominate Administrators

As an administrator of a club you have the ability to specify who has administration privileges. Administrators can change members to administrators by selecting the 'switch' button on the 'club members' page. Clubs must always have one active administrator.

How to...Amend club settings

As an administrator of a club you have the ability to amend the club settings such as address, contact name and contact phone number etc. This can be done by following the 'edit' button on the club homepage.

How to...Keep your club private

When you create a club you can specify it's privacy settings, either 'Open' to everyone, or 'Closed' meaning that administrators must approve members before they start to receive messages.

Also, you can specify whether members can send messages as soon as they join, or that they have to be nominated as senders.

These privacy settings can be amended at any time using the 'Edit' function from the main club homepage.

How to...Join a club/team via mobile phone

Easy, find out what the club keyword is and then text JOIN [keyword] to 07797801661. So if your club's keyword is ABCD01 you should text the following:

JOIN ABCD01

You will receive a confirmation message when you have successfully joined the club. If you do not receive this message please contact us on support@firetext.co.uk.

You can subscribe and receive messages from club without having an online account, but we recommend that you activate your online account using your activation code as soon as you can.

How to...Use an activation code

If you subscribe to any of our services for the first time you will receive an activation code in any confirmation message. If you subsequently want to create an online account using your mobile phone number then you can do this easily using this activation code.

In fact, on the homepage www.scubatext.co.uk you will find a button that says 'I have an activation code', so follow this link and follow the instructions - if you already have an online account and you receive an activation code then please contact us on support@firetext.co.uk.

How to...Join a club via the website

It is easy to join a club on our website www.scubatext.co.uk. If you are using our services for the first time then you must verify your mobile phone number before you receive any messages, this is to make sure that no one is using/abusing your mobile phone number without permission.

How to...Create an account

Firstly you must.create an account; this is achieved by entering your phone number into the 'sign up' box on the right hand side of the homepage based at www.scubatext.co.uk.

The next stage is to verify your mobile phone, click on the button 'verify my phone' and you will be sent a verification code. When you receive this code, simply input this into the 'verification code' box. You can then proceed with the remainder of the registration process.

Once you have created your online account you are free to create or join as many clubs as you can (see below).

How to...Create a Team

Any administrator within the club can create a team, which can be done by selecting 'Add A Team' on the Club Details page. Team keywords consist of the original club keyword plus an additional letter making a 7-letter keyword.

How to...Allocate Club Members to a Team

Club members can join the team via their mobile phone, but you can also add them through the team 'members' page. Members can be removed from the team on this page as well.

How to...Delete a Club or Team

The club is deleted automatically when the last administrator leaves the club/team.

How to...Find and join a club

You can easily search for clubs by using the 'find a club' link in the control box on the left hand side of the screen. You can look for a specific club, search for clubs by type or region or failing that peruse through the selection available. Upon finding the club you wish to join then select it to visit the club's homepage.

When you reach this page you will see basic details associated with this club, you can use these to check you are signing up to the correct club. On the right hand side of the page you will find a 'my status' section, if you are signed up already then it will inform you that you are already a member, if not then it will display the status 'not a member'. If you decide that you would like to join this club then click on the 'join' button on the right hand side of the page.

Note: If the club has been 'closed' by the administrator then you will have to await approval before you can start receiving messages.

How to...Access your messages online

You can access a recent history of the messages that have been sent to your mobile number. These can be found using the control panel situated on the left hand side of the screen. By selecting 'my messages' you can view a history of the messages you have received since joining the clubs to which you have subscribed. You can filter these by using the selection box on the right hand side of the screen.

How to...Amend your online profile

You can amend your FireText profile by selecting 'my profile' in the control box on the left hand side of the screen. In this section you can view and amend your personal details, change your password and also update your mobile number as appropriate. If you change your mobile number then you must verify your new mobile number before it can be used.

How to...Un-subscribe from clubs

This can be done via SMS using UNSUBSCRIBE. If you would like to unsubscribe to a single club then text 'UNSUBSCRIBE [keyword]' to 07797801661, for example:

UNSUBSCRIBE ABCD01

If you have an online account then it is also possible to unsubscribe via the club homepage. On the right hand side of the club homepage page you will see 'my status', if you select the 'remove' button then you can unsubscribe yourself.
