Uploading contacts

We've made it really easy to upload your contacts. Data can be uploaded from a spreadsheet or even via a simple copy & paste.

Uploading your contacts

STEP 1: First step is to choose the contacts tab and then click + add contacts

STEP 2: Select an existing Group to add your contacts or create a new one on-the-fly. This allows you to target your campaigns effectively..

STEP 3: Choose either to upload your prepared contacts file (see below) OR copy-and-paste up to 2000 contacts separating each field with a comma. Once you've selected your file or entered your data, click Next Step to begin the upload of your data.

ADVANCED TIP: You can Auto-update your contacts with your new data by checking the Auto-update option before clicking Upload Contacts. This will update the First Name, Surname & the 3 Custom Fields based on a matching mobile number already within your account.

Preparing your data

Before uploading your list of contacts, you'll need to prepare your data ready for upload. Contact files can be uploaded as a CSV (comma-separated values). In Excel, simply select save as: Comma Separated Value

The FireText system allows the following to be uploaded:

  • Mobile Number (required)
  • First Name (optional)
  • Surname (optional)
  • Custom Field 1 (optional)
  • Custom Field 2 (optional)
  • Custom Field 3 (optional)

The most simplest way to do this to list your data in three columns: First Name, Surname and Mobile Number.

NOTE: The FireText system automatically recognises UK mobile numbers without the leading zero too (we understand that Excel sneakily removes this!).
