Track your SMS marketing campaigns in Google Analytics

It’s super-easy to track who’s clicking on the links in your SMS messages with our URL tracker…but have you ever wondered what your customers are doing after they’ve clicked? This handy tip will help you to track clicks in FireText AND activity in Google analytics!

If you’ve not come across Google’s handy URL builder tool yet, it’s a smart (and free) tool which will allow you to build a custom URL for each campaign. This URL will have specific information within it, set by you, meaning when you come to analyse your campaigns and customer activity in Google Analytics you’ll be able to drill down even further into what your customers are doing. Not only will you know who’s clicking and at what time, if you’re tracking ecommerce in Google Analytics you can also see what revenue is being generated from your SMS campaigns too – awesome.

This link can go straight into your SMS message – but you’ll want to shorten it down first. Just pop it into the URL tracker in FireText as normal and we’ll make sure the shortened link is sent out so it will look much sleeker and you’ll only use 20 characters.


What’s next?

So, you’ve built your link and sent it out in your campaign, all your customers are clicking away, woohoo! Now how do you find out how it’s doing? You can head into your FireText account and check the clicks as normal in MESSAGES >> SENT >> VIEW >> CLICKS

As you’ve used the Campaign URL Builder you can now also log into your Google Analytics account and head to ACQUISITION >> CAMPAIGNS >> ALL CAMPAIGNS to see how your SMS campaigns are working after your customers have clicked.
