SMS or Short Message Service is the act of sending a message electronically between two mobile devices. Now more commonly referred to as texting or sending a Text Message. The first SMS was sent by Neil Papwoth, a 22 year old software engineer on 3rd December 1992. The message simply said "Merry Christmas" and was sent to a colleague.
